Three Reasons an In-Home Newborn Session is Unique
Doing an in-home session feels very organic and natural. It is perfect when your little one is small because you can just stay in the comfort of your home. I feel like doing it at home allowed our kids to truly keep their personalities because they are in a familiar territory. - Bernadeth B.
Sometimes I have the honour of not only photographing a baby's birth, I also get to go to their home a week or so later for an in-home newborn session. This lifestyle session happened a few weeks after baby's birth. These sessions are one of my favourite sessions for so many reasons.
You get to stay in and be cozy in your own home.
The first few months after the arrival of a new baby are fuzzy, beautiful and sometimes a little chaotic as your family adjusts. Having a photographer meet you at your home means you can stay in and even wear your pyjamas! Capturing images of your baby's real life setting is something you will be able to look back on for years to come.
Everything we need is there.
I will arrive with all my gear and you will have had an info package with all the details you need to know before I arrive. If baby needs a change, you can do it where baby is comfortable. Spit up? No problem! Wardrobe changes are easy at home. If there are special family heirlooms we can include such as knit blankets and jewellery we can do that! I will work within your home to maximize the natural light so we can capture many beautiful images in your own environment.
Your home is the setting of the first chapter of her life!
When I arrive, I will spend time chatting with you for a few minutes - especially if there is a sibling there. I often ask the older sibling to take me on a tour of your home so we can get to know each other before I start taking photos. The options for image locations is wide - and I will be sure to include a few room locations to keep your images interesting. The environment is part of baby's story - and I want you to have the images to tell her about her early days in her first home.
