Would you enjoy your newborn session outside?
I've known this family for quite a few years. We met when I photographed their son's outdoor newborn session at the Arboretum. I was so happy to learn their family has grown by one and we met this fall at the Vanier Sugar Bush for another outdoor session. We walked the path, stopped a few times to capture images and even big brother had some snuggles in the wrap. The weather was cool so he needed some cuddles too!
Below are words from Mom about her experience.
Why did you choose to do your newborn session outside?
We like doing outdoor shoots with our family because being our toddler loves being outside - it keeps him happier longer being able to explore the outside locations, and a happy toddler is a pretty big factor for good pictures and good memories! Also I love the way the natural light outside gives us some beautiful variations on pictures depending on the season and amount of shade.
Do you have a favourite photo?
Some of my favourite photos from our October shoot are the ones where I am babywearing my son. It was a chilly morning in the shade and I wrapped him to keep him warmer. I haven't wrapped him in more than a year. He just snuggled in and it was so nice to have that extended time to hold him so close again, especially then as with a new baby, usually my attention needed to go to her. But Mike was happily taking care of her then, and so I was free to soak all the wrap snuggles.
I also really treasure the nursing photos, and the photos where my son insisted on having his stuffed animals in the picture. It felt absolutely right that his beloved stuffed animals be a part of our family photos!
How would you describe your outdoor newborn session?
Our session with Breathe In Photography was, as usual, really wonderful. It was so relaxed and accommodating, which is exactly what families of small children need. We of course always love the way the pictures turn out, but having a fun, positive experience on the day when those photos are taken makes the memories of those photos so much better.
Who do you think would enjoy an outdoor lifestyle session like yours?
Everyone? Especially people who like the candid moments between the posed shots to be captured too.
